cupcakes in DC..

last weekend i met up with my friend,Kelly, in DC. it was our first time meeting in person, so it was so nice to hang out with her finally! we had lunch at Sequoia. it was just lovely sitting outside having lunch & good conversation by the water! must take the family up there VERY SOON!

afterwards we took a walk on M street. it was crowded! we went into Urban Outfitters & i came across this bitch kit! love love this kit...hahaha!

then we walked over to the famous Georgetown Cupcakes & boy, was that line long as ever. we waited 45 mins in line for some yummy treats to indulge in. totally worth the wait. there were people asking if they could go inside just to see what all the hoopla was for the long line & i'm sure many of them thought it was ridiculous to stand in line for high priced cupcakes...hahaha!

Jenni Bowlin was in town father's day weekend & she taught some classes at Scrapdoodles! it was her first time there & we are super elated to have her & look forward to having her come back down again real soon! i ended up taking both classes. the projects were so fun to create! love that i learned some new techniques in her class! Jenni is super sweet & easy to chat with. i had a great time getting to know her that day!!

my friend,  Keisha (she is also on Jenni's DT), came down to take her classes, too. it was so fun seeing her again. we chatted it up & had lots of laughs! it was fun!

Crossed2
one morning while loading the dishwasher, i see Corinne sitting at the table playing w/ one of her electronic tablets & her legs were crossed! total shocker! my mouth dropped & ran to get the camera! she completely ignored me the whole time while i was snapping away. so so cute & so girly to see her sitting here w/ her legs crossed, like a little lady!!

zoo trip...

kids & i packed up & headed down to Richmond Zoo for the day. it was a lot of fun. we met up with my friend Deborah & her daughter, Amber & her new baby (which i am MAD that i didn't get a picture of her little man, Nate! he is so precious)!! it was a gorgeous day, too. it was hot, but super cool breeze the entire time & of course, we made sure we rested ourselves in the shade as much as possible!

Corinne w/ one of her many handbags...LOL! i told her she wasn't going to hold onto it long & of course, she didn't...lol. i had to tote it in my bag. but whatever. she's a girly girl!!Zoo1

Corinne wouldn't hold my hand 1/2 the time...LOL! but she so loved hanging w/ Deborah. she would hold her hand first...LOL!

after having lunch, me & the kids hit the road. i would've stayed longer, but i didn't want to sit in traffic on the way home, knowing that Corinne only lasts for an hour in the car seat! they passed out for me, so that was nice!

next week we are headed to Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens to view the butterflies. i have been wanting to go since they opened that back in May. just hope it doesn't rain!!!

have a lovely Independence Day :-)

family photo shoot

we spent the day in downtown Fredericksburg for our family photo shoot w/ my good friend, Ali Mclaughlin. she did a wonderful job! we had a lot of fun, too. the kids did somewhat well. they were more interested in their surroundings, but after lunch we visited one of the fudge shop for some treats & they were quite happy by then, LOL! i love all the lovely photos Ali captured, too. it was a nice change to have the four of us together in one photo and of course, me & Tim in photos together, too.

to see the rest of our photos by Ali, please visit her website, Ali Mclaughlin Photography! here are a few to share.

photobooth & a movie...

being that it is summertime, our daily routine has to change quite dramatically. so i have been trying to keep the kids busy & happy & occupied as much as possible. of course, there will be at least one day a week where we are all staying home in our jammies all day! anyway, w/ all the rain & tstorms we've been getting, at the last minute, i decided to take the kids to the movies. we saw UP & it was a GREAT one, too! wasn't what i expected at all, but was totally worth seeing & the kids loved it, too! Corinne did so well. i was surprised actually! i was kinda nervous, but she sat in my lap 90% of the time & didn't really starting talking loud until the last 20 mins of the film, where the action was getting good! no surprise there from her! afterwards, me & the kids hit up the photo booth & they had a blast. Corinne was actually more amazed at the whole thing in general. it was really cute!!! i foresee more trips to the movie theater this summer! looking forward to it!!!

it's hump day....

& that means today is the day to head on over to Scrapdoodles for this weeks hump day layout. it's a girly girl page for the most part but you can create with it how you wish!

the other week Quickutz came out w/ some wonderful new wedding & special occasion die cuts! i really didn't think i would be interested in using any of them or even purchasing any for that matter. but you could use them for SO MANY other things than what they are intended for.

for this layout, i used Flourish Border, which i layered. i couldn't resist the cute wedding dress that i used as her princess dress. for the font, i used one that is fairly new, Sugar Sweet classic cookie cutter set, which has both lower & upper case letters & numbers. one of my most favorite die cuts by QK is the Label bracket shaped die! the butterflies used are Martha Stewart of course :-)

so if you get a chance, swing by Scrapdoodles to pickup your kit today. next week is the last week we'll be doing the hump day layouts. Cheryl & i are gonna take a nice little break for the summer, while school is out! thanks to all the local girls/ladies who've been coming each week to purchase the kits that we put together to inspire you :-) have a great day (stay cool...it's another hot & humid day)!!

she's 2...

our little lady turned two over the Memorial weekend, May 23rd. it's truly amazing how time flies & how fast little ones grow! i feel like turning the clock back to start all over, but then again, i am REALLY lovin the toddler stage (minus the terrible 2 syndrome). she has quite the personality. she is fearless & has no problem holding her own.

i couldn't get her to crack one smile in this photo. i'm sure she was tired after playing outside w/ Tyler. i don't think she really realized what was going on either.Two5

here she is playing w/ her new pink laptop! i figured maybe this will keep her off my computer ;-)Two3

Ty helping her open her new guitar. now she & Ty can make music together!Two1

my parents hung out w/ us for 4 days. it was really nice having them here. it was a relaxing weekend & we all just pretty much chilled out for the most part. after the birthday festivities, we hung out in the backyard while the kids played w/ Corinne's new water tabletop, got a quick group photo of everyone, including Sky's back & my reflection in the glass...LOL!Two2

the parents gifted Tim w/ a riding mower. he was so excited he couldn't wait to test it out. he gave both the kids a ride on it, too...lol.Two4

Corinne sitting in her new water table, STILL not smiling. not sure what her problem was...LOL!Two6

i need to update more often. i've been lazy with my blog for the last month or two. promise to update more often!! have a good week!!
